Connie Lynn Lea, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 in Oklahoma City after battling pulmonary hypertension, scleroderma, and pneumonia. She was born in Lindsay Oklahoma, October 3rd, 1949 just before her twin sister Bonnie Jean Johns. Connie was born to Sybil and Percy Charles “Joe” Bauman; her and Bonnie were the youngest and were doted on by older siblings Vicki, Joe, and Steve. Connie’s siblings were the center of her world and she loved revisiting memories and home movies of them growing up together in a small house on the top of a hill in Lindsay. After growing up and graduating from Lindsay High School Connie and Bonnie moved with their mother to Fort Smith, Arkansas. Both Connie and Bonnie got married on June 13, 1970 in a double wedding at First Baptist Church in Fort Smith. Connie married Preston Allen Lea from Fort Smith and Bonnie married James “Jay” Joseph Johns from Hartford, Arkansas. Connie and Bonnie continued their journey together having boys the same year, John Paul to Connie and Marcus Paul to Bonnie. Three years later they had girls the same year Melanie Ann to Connie and Charlotte Renee to Bonnie. Three more years later Connie had another daughter, Amanda Dawn, messing up their perfect record. As a single mother Connie rose to the challenge and raised the three children on her own working hard as a housekeeper for nursing homes and hospitals. Connie loved spending extra time with those that had no family or visitors and befriended everyone she encountered. She was a woman of strong faith and her second family were her friends from First Baptist Church. She recently discovered Facebook and loved sharing scripture, photos she found beautiful, but more than anything she loved seeing photos and videos of the newest members of her family Holden Jameson, great nephew, and Eleanor Rose, great great niece.
She was survived by her son, John Paul Lea; daughter, Melanie Ann Lea of Fort Smith, AR; daughter, Amanda Dawn (husband, Jeremy) Sanders of Cabot, AR; sister, Victoria L. (husband, Kieffer) Milam of Altamont, IL; brother, Robert Steven (wife, Diana) Bauman of Coarsegold, CA; sister, Bonnie J. (husband, Jay) Johns; sister-in-law, Kris Bauman of Las Vegas, NV; nieces, Tamara, Michelle, Stephanie, and Katheryn; nephews, Robert and Todd.
