Obituary

Hugh Charles (“H.C.”) Roberson passed away on November 1, 2020. Hugh grew up in Plainview, AR. He was raised by 2 loving parents. He was valedictorian of his high school class. Shortly after graduation he met the love of his life, Bonnie Jo “Jo” (Meredith) Roberson. As an only child, marrying into the Meredith family with 10 children was a dream come true! He knew Jo was “the one” after he laying eyes on her, but their first date sealed the deal. He pulled up to pick her up and saw children popping out of the windows, running around the side of the house, and swinging down from tree limbs. He loved each of them and their families dearly. She preceeded him in death in 2002. He held her on a pedestal, loved and talked about her often. She was the love of his life. Together they had 4 daughters. While some men wish for a son, H.C. took pride in having 4 beautiful, strong and independent daughters and never going bald. He was known to work from dusk ‘till dawn and waking up the children on the weekends with Bach, Beethoven, or the Beatles. He served in the U.S. Army for 6 years where he was deployed many places including Japan and Korea. After the Army he worked in logging, and natural gas drilling, before landing a job in sales and delivery. He loved Disney and Disney movies, and enjoyed watching them with his 7 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He lived in 8 different states and 2 different countries. H.C. loved and was loved dearly by his family, friends, and caregivers. He enjoyed John Wayne and other western movies, peanut butter, Hershey chocolate, and best of all, Coca-Cola. His family is beyond proud of the man he was and the life he lived. No one in his life wondered if they were loved by him.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Bonnie Jo Roberson, His mother and father Nannie Ruth and Hugh Cyrus Roberson. He is succeeded in life by his children: Michele (Michael) Kassel, Anita (Charlie) Kerr, Donna (Jim) Rebecek, Terri (Ben Lane) Roberson, his grandchildren: Courtney Kassel, Jessica Kassel, Stephanie Kassel, Meredith Henry, Elizabeth Rebecek, Garrin Kerr, Griffin Kerr, and great-grandchildren: Brantley Kassel, Nic Applegarth, Adler Kassel-Scott, and Lux Kassel-Scott. Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Smith Mortuary Chapel, Charleston, Arkansas.
